Get ready for a dose of musical therapy this Friday, May 9, as local legends Have Mercy! return to the Piazza at the Palladio for a night of high-energy, crowd-pleasing rock and roll. The free concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and runs until 9:30 p.m., providing a perfect soundtrack to a night out in Folsom’s shopping and dining district.
Not to be confused with any similarly named band, Have Mercy!—emphatically punctuated with an exclamation mark—has been serving up classic rock with a side of fun since the 1990s. Formed by doctors from Mercy Folsom Hospital, what began as a one-time staff party performance evolved into a full-blown musical mission. Today, their signature blend of rock, soul, and humor brings crowds to their feet across the region.
From Springsteen to the Stones, Have Mercy! will rattle your bones. With Creedence, Elvis, and The Beatles, you’ll feel the cure without any needles. Let your musical healing begin with Have Mercy!
Their setlist reads like a time-traveling jukebox of feel-good hits. Expect to sing along to crowd favorites like 867-5309/Jenny, Sweet Caroline, Johnny B. Goode, Wagon Wheel, Twist and Shout, Old Time Rock and Roll, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and even their cheeky originals like It’s Called Polio and Managed Care Blues. It’s a sonic journey designed to get toes tapping, hips swaying, and spirits lifted.
The band’s lineup is as colorful as their song list. Eliot Drell, MD—known on stage as “Doc E”—leads the charge on vocals, joined by fellow lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Phil Baldi, DO, and his sister Rosemary Younts on vocals. Chuck Noble, Esq., shreds lead guitar while Rob DeBruin, MD, adds harmonica and acoustic guitar flavor. HW Sundermier, MD, manages the band while contributing saxophone and vocals. Bassist John “G.I. John” Willis anchors the rhythm section with Pete Crispell on drums and background vocals, while Guy Guilfoy, MD, supports on sound and backup bass guitar.
Looking ahead, the Palladio Piazza concert series continues with a dynamic lineup of performers each Friday through June. On May 16, Keep On Truckin’ rolls in with a tribute to the sounds and spirit of Woodstock. Peter Morgan follows on May 23, bringing smooth jazz and yacht rock to set a mellow tone for the evening.
The energy returns on May 30 when AKAlive brings their fusion of classic rock and funk, followed by Revolution Beat on June 6, delivering a full-scale Beatles tribute that spans every era of the legendary band.
Country fans can catch Brisco County on June 13, blending traditional and modern country tunes, while Jax Hammer turns it up on June 20 with hard-hitting rock riffs. The 2025 series wraps up June 27 with Eazy Dub, serving up a chill reggae vibe and island-inspired rhythms to close out the season.
This year’s concert series is made possible by the support of Elliott Homes, AKT Development, Cummings Enterprises, and the Rotary Club of Folsom.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort and arrive early to enjoy everything the Palladio has to offer, from shopping and dining to the Beer & Wine Garden hosted by Barnes & Noble Kitchen, featuring small plates and beers on tap.
