Local resident and Nashville Music Row recording artist Cynthia Renee and her band will take to the stage of Jan’s Lounge in Orangevale Friday for an evening of entertainment that’s perfect for kicking off your work week wind wine over cocktails with friends, or out on the dance floor of the longtime popular night spot. It will be the first of two nights of live music, with King Hippo on the Jan’s stage on Saturday night
On Friday night, the entertainment kicks off at 8 p.m. with Renee and her four talented band members will be performing on the Red Hawk Resort Casino’s stage bar. Renee is a singer-songwriter now with Twelve-Seventeen/SSM Nashville Records. Renee and her band members are known for their extensive catalog of modern and popular country songs, as well as her originals that include“Working on a Hangover,” and “Good on Me,” which are amongst radio play as well as music video syndication across the country.
Renee and her band have performed at KNCI Radio’s Country in the Park alongside other country artists such as Lady A and Maddie and Tae. This past summer, they opened for multi-platinum selling artist Uncle Kracker in Santa Barbara, as well as Broken Bow Records Artist Chase Bryant in Reno. and earlier this year performed at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
Renee has also performed locally at Folsom’s Harris Center for the Arts, numerous casino and entertainment venues, the California State Fair, El Dorado County Fair, San Joaquin County Fair, Gold Country Fair and others. Friday’s show will be one of five local shows over the next two weeks, prior to her return to Nashville to resume recording for a stint next month. Renee takes the stage at 9 p.m. and plays until 1:00 am Friday.
On Saturday, the genre shifts to reggae as King Hippo brings their unique sound to Jan’s Lounge.
King Hippo is a reggae cover band that infuses elements of roots, rock, and punk into a potpourri of gratifyingly danceable and groove-centric ear pleasure. The casual listener will expect, and be satisfied by the tenets of reggae ala Bob Marley and Sublime.

According to King Hippo’s music biography, the more perspicacious listener will appreciate deep cuts from bands such as Operation Ivy, Mike Pinto, and 2 Pac…Yes…2 Pac.
