Tickets now on sale for the iconic California big top returns to the Sacramento region with an all-new production featuring international performers, aerial thrills and family entertainment
One of the longest-running traveling circuses is preparing to return to the Sacramento region with an all-new production, bringing its signature Big Top first to Roseville and then to Folsom as tickets officially go on sale for the 2026 tour.
Circus Vargas has announced its latest production, “Masquerade,” an original show promising two hours of live entertainment featuring world-class aerialists, acrobats, daredevils, comedians and international performers in a family-friendly, animal-free production. The annual Northern California stop has become a tradition for many local families, with performances scheduled in Roseville from Aug. 6 through Aug. 31 before moving to Folsom from Sept. 4 through Sept. 21.
Founded in California in 1969, Circus Vargas has remained one of the largest traveling big top circuses in the world, continuing a tradition that has largely disappeared across the country. Today, the circus is owned and operated by seventh-generation circus performers Katya Arata Quiroga and Nelson Quiroga, who have continued the company’s focus on live human performance while introducing an entirely new production each touring season.
The 2026 production invites audiences into a theatrical world where mystery meets spectacle beneath the Big Top. Organizers describe “Masquerade” as an immersive experience filled with elaborate costumes, dramatic lighting, original music and nonstop performances that push the limits of athleticism and artistry.
Unlike entertainment viewed through television screens or mobile devices, Circus Vargas continues to emphasize the excitement of witnessing extraordinary feats performed live just feet away from the audience. Every seat under the tent places spectators close to the action as performers soar overhead, balance high above the ring, execute precision acrobatics and deliver comedic moments designed to entertain children and adults alike.
Among the featured attractions this year are awe-inspiring aerial performances, high-wire artistry by the internationally acclaimed Meza Troupe, the adrenaline-pumping Globe of Death motorcycle stunt, internationally recognized hand-balancing acts, unicycle performers, juggling, quick-change artistry, comedy and the return of renowned ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson, one of the most recognizable voices in modern circus entertainment.
Circus Vargas has built a reputation for continually reinventing itself while preserving many of the traditions that have defined the American circus for generations. Rather than relying on nostalgia alone, each new edition introduces fresh acts, new costumes and an updated storyline, ensuring returning guests experience something different each year.
The production also reflects the company’s longstanding commitment to showcasing human talent without animal performances, placing the spotlight entirely on the athleticism, creativity and skill of performers from around the world.
For many families, attending Circus Vargas has become an annual tradition, offering a chance to unplug from everyday routines and enjoy a shared live experience. The Sacramento-area tour begins at Westfield Galleria at Roseville, where the Big Top will stand from Aug. 6 through Aug. 31 before relocating to the corner of Oak Avenue Parkway and East Bidwell Street at Lakeside Church in Folsom for performances running Sept. 4 through Sept. 21. The highly visible location has become a familiar stop for the circus during its annual visits to the region and offers easy access for audiences traveling from throughout Sacramento and El Dorado counties.
Tickets are on sale now, with prices ranging from $25 to $90 depending on seating location. Guests can choose from VIP seating, ringside reserved seating and multiple arena seating options. Children younger than 2 are admitted free when seated on a parent’s lap, while discounted tickets are also available for children, seniors and military members.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as many performances traditionally sell out during Circus Vargas’ annual Northern California appearances.
