Acclaimed guitarist who has shared the stage with blues legends headlines this weekend’s Powerhouse of Blues at Powerhouse Pub
Blues fans will have an opportunity to experience one of the genre’s most electrifying live performers this weekend as guitarist, singer and songwriter Dennis Jones headlines Sunday’s Powerhouse of Blues at Powerhouse Pub in Historic Folsom.
The Sunday, July 26 performance begins at 3 p.m. and features an artist whose career has taken him across the United States, Canada and Europe while earning a reputation for explosive guitar work, soulful vocals and a contemporary style deeply rooted in traditional American blues.
Long before becoming a headlining act, Jones shared the stage with some of blues music’s biggest names, including Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood and Tinsley Ellis. Those experiences helped shape his own high-energy approach to live performance while establishing him as one of today’s respected performers on the modern blues circuit.
Backed by a powerhouse rhythm section, Jones has become known for blistering guitar solos, smooth vocals and an energetic stage presence that blends the raw emotion of classic blues with the power and intensity of modern rock. His performances have earned praise from audiences around the world while continuing to build his reputation as one of contemporary blues music’s standout live entertainers.
While Jones’ guitar playing often steals the spotlight, he is equally respected as a songwriter. His original music reflects both his traditional blues influences and modern rock sensibilities, creating songs that honor the genre’s roots while introducing a fresh, contemporary sound. His songwriting talents have also led him to write material for other notable recording artists.

Earlier in his career, Jones spent three years performing with The BusBoys, the group best known for its hit “The Boys Are Back in Town,” before joining The Zac Harmon Band. During his time with Harmon, the group captured first place at the 2004 Blues Music Awards International Blues Challenge in Memphis, one of the blues world’s most prestigious competitions.
Today, Jones continues to headline clubs, festivals and concert venues, delivering performances that combine technical precision with the passion and spontaneity that have long defined the blues tradition. Whether unleashing soaring guitar solos or delivering heartfelt original songs, his concerts consistently showcase why he has become one of the genre’s most respected performers.
Sunday’s appearance continues Powerhouse Pub’s popular Powerhouse of Blues series, which has become a destination for nationally touring blues artists performing in Historic Folsom.
