The Folsom Lake Symphony will bring a sweeping celebration of American music to the stage next month with its upcoming concert program, American Salute, set for two performances at the Harris Center for the Arts.
The performances are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., offering audiences a dynamic program that reflects the spirit, history and evolving sound of the nation as it approaches its 250th anniversary.
The concert opens with the vibrant rhythms and colorful orchestration of George Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, followed by his Variations on “I Got Rhythm,” featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Natsuki Fukasawa. The program continues with the energetic and witty Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein.
One of the central works of the performance will be Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, narrated by baritone Ralph Cato. The piece blends orchestral music with the words of President Abraham Lincoln, capturing themes of resilience, unity and the enduring ideals that have shaped the country.

The program also includes selections from well-known stage and screen productions such as Star Wars, South Pacific and Wicked, adding a familiar and uplifting element to the performance while showcasing the broad reach of American music across genres.
In addition to the featured soloists, the concert will include a special appearance by the Virtus Choir from John Adams Academy – Roseville, further enhancing the collaborative nature of the performance.
Cato is recognized internationally for his expressive voice and storytelling ability across opera, oratorio and concert stages, while Fukasawa, a Steinway Artist and Fulbright Scholar, has performed at major venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
