Traktion, Now That’s What I Call ’90s, Jam Addicts, Careless Whisper and the SL@MJAM! series bring three days of live entertainment to Historic Folsom
From classic rock anthems and a full-scale ’90s dance party to an afternoon packed with crowd favorites and an interactive showcase featuring local musicians, another weekend of live entertainment is set to fill Historic Folsom as Powerhouse Pub rolls out a diverse lineup of music spanning five decades.
Leading the weekend is Friday night’s one-two punch of Traktion and Adam Aldama & The Aces’ newest themed production, Now That’s What I Call ’90s, bringing two distinctly different eras of music together for an evening built around nostalgia, dancing and nonstop energy.
The weekend begins Friday, June 26 with the TGIF Early Show featuring Traktion at 6:30 p.m. A longtime favorite throughout the Sacramento region, the band has earned a reputation for delivering energetic performances built around both classic and modern rock.
Featuring seasoned local musicians, Traktion’s expansive repertoire spans multiple eras, moving effortlessly from 1970s arena rock and hard rock favorites into 1990s alternative classics and modern rock hits. Their performances combine faithful recreations of iconic songs with the energy of a seasoned live band that knows how to keep audiences engaged.
Fans can expect music from legendary artists including Rush, The Cult, Thin Lizzy, Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool and Living Colour, creating a setlist that appeals to multiple generations of rock fans. Whether it’s the progressive musicianship of “The Spirit of Radio,” the driving riffs of “The Boys Are Back in Town” or the unmistakable groove of “Cult of Personality,” Traktion delivers a performance rooted in musicianship and pure rock-and-roll energy.
Friday night then shifts from guitars to throwback party mode as Adam Aldama & The Aces debut Now That’s What I Call ’90s beginning at 10 p.m.
Designed as a celebration of one of music’s most influential decades, the production recreates the rock, hip-hop, R&B and pop hits that defined the 1990s. Audiences can expect music from Nirvana, Biggie, Tupac, the Spice Girls, Britney Spears and countless other artists that dominated radio, MTV and dance clubs during the decade.
Led by Adam Aldama alongside Veronica Ballejos, Brett Sackett, Keywan Ryland and Jimmy O’Shea, The Aces have become one of Northern California’s premier live entertainment acts through a series of successful themed productions. Along with their Prince, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, disco and Y2K tribute shows, the band’s newest production brings the soundtrack of the 1990s to life with polished musicianship, choreography and nonstop crowd interaction.
Combined with Powerhouse’s giant LED dance floor, multiple bars and Big Rob’s Hookah Lounge, Friday night promises one of the biggest dance parties of the summer in Historic Folsom.
Saturday, June 27 begins with the Saturday Afternoon Dance Party featuring Jam Addicts at 3 p.m.
Known as one of the Sacramento area’s favorite variety dance bands, Jam Addicts specializes in performing recognizable hits spanning every decade from the 1960s through today. Featuring vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass and drums, the band’s wide-ranging catalog keeps audiences moving with an energetic blend of rock and pop favorites.
Whether performing in clubs, wineries, breweries, festivals or private events, Jam Addicts has built a strong following by creating performances centered around familiar songs, audience participation and nonstop fun.
Saturday night turns the clock back once again as Careless Whisper takes over the stage at 10 p.m.
More than simply recreating the music of the decade, Careless Whisper delivers a complete 1980s experience. Featuring songs from artists including AC/DC, Journey and Madonna, the band combines authentic performances with colorful wardrobes, vibrant lighting and the larger-than-life atmosphere that defined one of popular music’s most memorable eras.
Designed to celebrate not only the songs but the culture of the decade, Careless Whisper creates a show that appeals equally to longtime fans who lived through the 1980s and younger audiences discovering the music for the first time. Packed with singalongs, dancing and visual flair, the performance captures the spirit that made the decade unforgettable.
The weekend concludes Sunday, June 28 with the fifth edition of the Sacramento-area Local Musicians Jam Series, beginning at 3 p.m.
The afternoon opens with performances by Band Unknown, Feedback Loop and One Step Down, showcasing music spanning the 1960s through today before turning the spotlight over to local musicians and singers looking to join the fun.
Open to instrumentalists and vocalists of all experience levels, the jam series has become a popular gathering for area musicians looking to perform, collaborate and connect with fellow artists in a welcoming live music environment. Organizers say the event is designed to help local performers gain experience, build confidence and simply enjoy making music together.
From classic rock and ’90s nostalgia to ’80s dance favorites and community music-making, the weekend lineup once again showcases the variety that continues to make Powerhouse Pub one of Folsom’s favorite entertainment spots in the city’s Historic District.
