Doors open at 5 p.m. before newly crowned 2026 Sac Town Hoedown Boot Up Instructor Search winner Chelsea Wright leads line dancing from 6 to 8 p.m. Known for her energetic and easy-to-follow instruction, Wright has become a favorite among dancers for creating an atmosphere that welcomes beginners while keeping experienced line dancers moving throughout the evening.

At 8 p.m., Sacramento country band Red Bluff takes the stage, bringing an evening of modern and classic country favorites. Led by Joe Gibbs, the group has built a reputation throughout the region for polished musicianship, dance-friendly performances and crowd-pleasing country hits that appeal to audiences of all ages.

Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy free admission, food service, patio games, giveaways, cooling misters and the debut of The Boardwalk’s new shaded patio. Drink specials include $2.50 Coors Light drafts, patriotic Jell-O shots and additional holiday-themed beverages.

The celebration continues Saturday, July 4, with Freedom Weekend: America’s 250th Birthday, offering another full day of free entertainment as the nation marks its semiquincentennial.

Beginning at 5 p.m., Sacramento singer-songwriter Dwight Anthony performs an acoustic patio set designed to provide the soundtrack for a relaxing Independence Day afternoon. Anthony, who is also the lead vocalist for A Dream About Home, has become a familiar performer throughout the Sacramento music scene with an acoustic style built around heartfelt vocals and stripped-down arrangements.

The evening shifts indoors at 8 p.m. when longtime Central Valley favorite Remedy takes the main stage. Performing together for more than 25 years, the band has earned a loyal following by blending rock, pop, blues and funk into high-energy performances that span classic favorites and contemporary hits, keeping dance floors full throughout Northern California.

Guests can also enjoy barbecue, the venue’s full food menu, drink specials, patio games and the recently opened outdoor patio throughout the holiday celebration.

The weekend wraps up Sunday with Freedom Weekend: Recovery Day on the Patio, offering a slower-paced afternoon designed for those looking to unwind after the Fourth of July festivities.

Doors open at 11 a.m., with Dwight Anthony returning from 1 to 3 p.m. for another acoustic performance. Visitors are invited to relax under the shaded patio while enjoying brunch-style offerings, Bloody Mary and mimosa specials, food service and a laid-back atmosphere centered around live music and summer relaxation.

The three-day celebration highlights The Boardwalk’s newest outdoor venue while continuing the Orangevale landmark’s long tradition of pairing live entertainment with community gatherings. For decades, The Boardwalk has served as one of the Sacramento region’s premier live music destinations, hosting national touring artists, tribute acts, local bands, comedy performances and special events.

All three Freedom Weekend events are free to attend. They are open to all ages, though guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
