Event to benefit Historic Folsom amphitheater green room project

They are ranked as the number one touring tribute to the late Tom Petty and they are coming to Folsom this weekend to headline a fundraising concert that will benefit future concerts and performers. The Petty Breakers take the stage of the Zittel Family Amphitheater in Historic Folsom to cap off an evening of fundraising and celebration surrounding Scott’s Seafood which is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Folsom. 

Saturday’s concert is one of two components for Saturday’s celebration event that is taking place not only to celebrate a business milestone for Scott’s Seafood as previously reported in Folsom Times last month, the proceeds from the event benefit the Historic Folsom District Association’s amphitheater greenroom project. This project that is already underway, will provide future performers with a greenroom space in the train depot attached to the stage. 

Currently, performers do not have a designated space to prepare, making it especially challenging during hot summer months. The space will also house the office for the Folsom Historic District Association, bringing staff and volunteers together with the district’s entertainment hub. If all goes as planned with a good turnout Saturday, the Petty Breakers may very well be the last band to perform without an actual greenroom, but don’t worry, these veteran musicians “won’t back down,” and are ready to entertain on any stage. 

A number of tickets for Saturday’s concert remain available as of Wednesday morning. Concert-only tickets are available for $40 and includes seating for this event, along with plenty of room for dancing  Tickets can be purchased on the restaurant’s website HERE. 

Those wanting to contribute more to the cause and feel like taking part in the outdoor seafood boil dinner can do so for $140, which includes the full dinner at a table set in the Historic Folsom Plaza surrounding the railroad turntable as well as a seat in the amphitheater for the concert. The Petty Breakers aren’t a goofy wig wearing costume wearing garage band, Since being in 2010, they have long held the title of being the No. 1 touring tribute to the late Tom Petty. Known for capturing the essence of a live Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concert, they have performed at venues across 26 states. In 2014, they were selected as “The World’s Greatest Tribute to Tom Petty” by AXS-TV, performing live at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood to a capacity crowd.

They are cited to be a no-frills rock band that meticulously encompasses the Tom Petty sound and musically establish an emotional connection with the crowd. This has been their motto and style since the beginning. You can expect to hear all those Tom Petty classic from his famous Free Falling to Runnin’ Down a Dream, I Won’t Back Down Refugee, Don’t Do me Like That, Here Comes my Girl and many more.  

“We wanted to approach the tribute genre as a true live band, and in lead vocalist Chris Chartier, we have what no one else has, the most genuine sounding Petty experience in the country,” the band cites.

The members of the Petty Breakers come from a background of recording and touring with original bands and perform the music of The Heartbreakers with the same passion and dedication they have long had in any projects. They focus their attention to detail to each and every song which appeals to both casual and diehard Tom Petty fans alike. Since the fall of 2018 when Tom Smith, Chris Chartier, Evan Smith, Rick Hiller, Tom Booth and Steve George joined forces, they have been fine tuning their sound with every show and practice they gather for.
