Historic Folsom’s Powerhouse Pub is ringing in the month of December with a busy weekend, featuring four bands over three days. The lineup kicks off with a group that pays homage to Folsom’s history, followed by an eclectic mix of rock, R&B, and Cajun blues, making this a must-see weekend of live entertainment.
The weekend begins on Friday, Dec. 6, with an early show featuring Granite City 909 at 7 p.m. The band’s name nods to Folsom’s past, when it was known as Granite City, and the historic elementary school at 909 Sutter St., where the band first formed. With strong ties to the city’s roots and a passion for their craft, Granite City 909 sets the tone for a lively weekend.
Later Friday night, the stage lights up at 10 p.m. for Stereotype, a Sacramento-based five-piece cover band that’s making waves as Northern California’s hottest new act. Known for their high-energy performances, creative mashups, and genre-spanning repertoire, Stereotype blends pop, rock, R&B, country, and old-school hip-hop into a dynamic show that’s guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving.
Stereotype
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the fun starts early with a Saturday Afternoon Dance Party featuring Mere Mortals at 3 p.m. This high-energy four-piece band has been rocking the Sacramento area since 2001 with an extensive playlist of more than 100 songs. From classic rock hits of the ’60s through the ’90s to blues, R&B, and rockin’ oldies, Mere Mortals offers a setlist that’s perfect for a festive afternoon.
The night continues Saturday at 10 p.m. with Emerald City, one of Sacramento’s most iconic original rock bands. Debuting in the ’80s at the legendary Oasis Ballroom, Emerald City quickly made a name for themselves, packing venues across Northern California and sharing the stage with acts like Johnny and Edgar Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, and Michael Schenker. Their performance is sure to be a highlight of the weekend.
Tom Rigney
The weekend wraps up with the Sunday afternoon Powerhouse of Blues, featuring Tom Rigney and Flambeau at 3 p.m. Rigney, a premier fiddle player in the American roots music scene, leads his band in a fiery blend of Cajun and zydeco two-steps, blues, New Orleans grooves, and boogie-woogie piano. Known for their electrifying performances, Tom Rigney and Flambeau bring the weekend to a soulful and high-energy close.
