FOLSOM – Audiences of all ages are in for a delightful treat as Sutter Street Theatre brings the classic fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin to life on stage. Adapted by Laura Luke and directed by Christine Lovette, this whimsical production opens this Saturday, January 25 and runs through February 23, with performances every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Based on the Grimm Brothers’ beloved German fairy tale, Rumpelstiltskin unfolds a magical story of greed, cunning, and the power of names. The kingdom is in dire financial straits, as the reckless King and Queen have nearly depleted their wealth on frivolous expenditures. The prince, a voice of reason amidst the chaos, hopes to restore order and balance.

Meanwhile, Rumpelstiltskin—banished from the castle after attempting to usurp the Royal Family—pleads with his mother, Circe the witch, for magical powers to enact his scheme. When the boastful Malcolm the Miller claims his daughter, Sabrina, can spin straw into gold, the desperate King and Queen see an opportunity to save the kingdom. Chaos ensues as Sabrina is drawn into Rumpelstiltskin’s clever plot, with the fate of the kingdom—and Sabrina’s freedom—hanging on the importance of a name.

This family-friendly production is rated G and offers an enchanting experience for audiences of all ages. Don’t miss this imaginative journey filled with magic, humor, and heart.
