After more than a decade of buildup and an emotional journey marked by tragedy, Sacramento punk veterans Another Damn Disappointment (A.D.D.) are finally set to release their long-anticipated fourth studio album, Bedlam, on April 21 through their independent label, Disappointed Records.
The release will mark the first full studio effort from the band since 2008’s Relentless, and more significantly, it will be the last album to feature the late Casey Marsullo, the band’s founding bassist. Marsullo was tragically killed in a 2016 car accident near Folsom Lake along with their guitarist’s girlfriend Lorena Rico who had gone for a ride with Marsullo at the time. The accident and the loss was a devastating blow to the group, who considered him the “captain of the ship,” according to announcement from the band’s official label, Disappointed Records.
While the story of Another Damn Disappointment may have its roots in Sacramento’s punk scene, the band’s frontman Joshua Thompson grew up right here in Folsom—a hometown that continues to support his music journey. Thompson was still a teenager when he overheard Marsullo and guitarist Ross Standley talking about starting a band at a high school party, and from that moment in 1999, A.D.D. was born.
Though devastated by the loss of Marsullo, the band was determined to finish what they had started.
“Casey wasn’t just a bassist,” the label announcement shares. “He was the driving force that kept us going. Finishing Bedlam was about honoring his legacy—and doing what he would’ve wanted us to do.”
More than a bandmate, Marsullo was a best friend and musical brother to Thompson—and a well-known and respected member of the Folsom community, where he spent his formative years before helping launch A.D.D. His deep connection to the city has remained a strong emotional thread for those following the band’s journey over the years.
Fortunately, the instrumental tracks for Bedlam had already been recorded prior to Marsullo’s passing. Thompson later completed the lyrics and vocals with the support of the rest of the band. The album was self-produced at Pus Cavern in Sacramento and engineered by Joe Johnston, whose production credits include Cake’s platinum albums Fashion Nuggetand Prolonging the Magic.
In 2024, Thompson and guitarist Aaron Welch traveled to The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, to complete the album’s mixing and mastering with Jason Livermore, a legend in the punk scene known for his work with Descendents, Rise Against, Black Flag, and Frenzal Rhomb.
The record’s vibrant cover art was designed by Joel Abad, a Barcelona-based artist whose credits include NOFX, Pennywise, Mad Caddies, and Dropkick Murphys. The artwork presents a powerful twist on California symbolism, incorporating the grizzly bear and red star from the state flag into a darker, more intense visual concept reflective of the album’s emotional themes.
To celebrate the release, Earth Skateboards created a custom skateboard deck featuring the album artwork. The first run sold out in a single day, with the decks now available locally at PLA Skateboarding in Folsom.
Local businesses are also showing their support. Rancho Cordova-based Movement Brewing Company crafted a special beer in the band’s honor that will be available at Crawdads on the Lake, The Gaslight Company, and Folsom Hotel on Sutter Street. The collaboration highlights the hometown connection and the lasting impact that both Thompson and Marsullo’s Folsom upbringing continues to have on the band’s identity and community ties.
Another Damn Disappointment built their sound drawing heavily from the Epitaph and Fat Wreck Chords catalogs of the 1990s, and over the years, they’ve evolved into a dynamic five-piece outfit. In addition to Thompson and Standley, the group includes Welch, drummer Carl Chang, and guitarist Alex Stephens, who bring an added level of intensity and vocal harmony to the band’s distinctive melodic punk energy.

The band first gained national attention with their 2004 release Hooligan, originally put out by Volcom Entertainment. A remastered version of that album dropped in 2022. They also spent back-to-back summers on the Vans Warped Tour in 2004 and 2005, and have since toured with punk heavyweights including Authority Zero and Guttermouth. Their 2009 independent release Relentless was produced by Guttermouth’s Scott Sheldon, signaling their pivot to a DIY model long before it became standard for punk bands navigating an ever-changing music industry.
While the road to Bedlam has been long, winding, and filled with loss, the band sees this album as a celebration of perseverance and creative loyalty. The record is being released in limited-edition vinyl, CD, and streaming formats, and includes the recently dropped single, “Lights Go Out,” now available online.

Bedlam is more than just another punk album. It’s a labor of love, a tribute to a fallen friend, and a roaring declaration that A.D.D. is far from done.
