The Folsom Community Center was packed with purpose and plastic eggs Wednesday evening as more than 200 volunteers of all ages came together for the city’s annual Easter egg stuffing night—just in time for this weekend’s Festival of Eggs at Lembi Park.

Energy filled the room as families, students, and civic groups formed long assembly lines at dozens of tables, working together to fill 25,000 colorful eggs with candy and prizes. The event, organized by the City of Folsom with support from the Folsom Teen Council, kicked off at 5:30 p.m. and reached its ambitious goal long before 8 p.m.

“Honestly, I thought it would take way longer,” said 16-year-old Maya Jennings, who volunteered with her youth group. “But once everyone got going, it was kind of like a machine. It’s cool to think about how many little kids are going to be excited when they find one of these eggs on Saturday.”

Food and beverages were provided for volunteers, courtesy of Chick-fil-A and Pizza Guys of Folsom, helping to keep spirits high as the crowd stuffed eggs and enjoyed the camaraderie. The event wasn’t just productive—it was a reminder of how community collaboration builds memories before the main event even begins.

Volunteers of all ages came out to help the Easter Bunny with the massive task of stuffing 25,000 eggs Wednesday evening to prepare for Folsom’s Festival of Eggs. Folsom Times photos by Bill Sullivan.

“I brought my kids here to help because I think it’s important for them to see that joy doesn’t just come from showing up—it comes from being part of something bigger,” said Lindsey Harrell, who volunteered alongside her two young daughters. “They were so proud every time they finished another bag.”

The Wednesday night tradition has become the unofficial kickoff to the Festival of Eggs, a reimagined version of Folsom’s former Spring Eggstravaganza that ensures every child walks away with something in their basket. Held at Lembi Park, the free event accommodates families with two age-specific time windows: from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for children 6 and under, and 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for ages 7 to 10.

Once onsite, families can start the day with a pancake breakfast (available for purchase), then enjoy the Bunny Trail experience. Children receive a trail map and collect eggs, treats, and stamps from various vendor booths as they move through the park. At the end of the trail, they’ll be greeted by the Easter Bunny for photo opportunities and awarded a ticket for a prize-based egg hunt—featuring a chance to win the coveted Golden Egg, thanks to the Folsom Athletic Association.
