The weekend at Historic Folsom’s Powerhouse Pub launches into high gear this Friday night as Rock Monsterz kicks things off with a roaring tribute to the biggest anthems of 1980s rock.

Rock Monsterz is a high-energy 1980s rock tribute band that brings to life the biggest hits from bands like Kansas, Styx, Boston, Foreigner, Journey, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Toto, Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, Heart, and more. The band takes pride in performing the more technically challenging tracks—those that fans rarely get to hear live—and executing them note-for-note with impressive accuracy.

This professional five-piece tribute group features both male and female lead vocalists, allowing them to deliver authentic renditions across a wide vocal range. Every performance is entirely live—no backing tracks, no pre-recorded audio—just pure, unapologetic rock and roll played by real musicians.

The band includes Danny K on lead guitar, who has played in original hard rock bands like Janicot, Vivid, and Mama Stringbean since the 1980s. Cheryl, who provides lead vocals and plays bass guitar, is an accomplished singer-songwriter with experience in vocal groups, jingles, voice-over work, and various genres from jazz to metal. Brian, also on lead vocals and bass, started his music career in Illinois before relocating to California in the mid-’90s and performing with a number of bands.

Dag, the band’s keyboardist and guitarist, began playing piano at the age of four and developed his skills in local bands before touring the U.S. and working as a composer for documentary films. Joe, on drums, hails from the Bay Area and has played with multiple bands including Paradoxx and The Michael Gregory Project.

Their show starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, setting the tone for a weekend filled with non-stop music, dancing, and nightlife energy at one of Folsom’s most vibrant live music venues. Guests must be 21 and over to attend.

Powerhouse Pub, located at 614 Sutter Street in Historic Folsom, features an LED-lit dance floor, multiple bars, and a lively party setting. Free parking is available at the nearby garage at 905 Leidesdorff Street, with a complimentary shuttle offering easy access to the venue. Seating is first come, first served, so early arrival is recommended.

Later Friday night at 10:00 p.m., 8 Track Massacre takes over to keep the dance floor jumping. Performing since 2009, this seasoned group of musicians brings a playlist that spans multiple decades, ensuring that every track is danceable and singalong-worthy.

Under the Bus

Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the Saturday Afternoon Dance Party gets underway with Under The Bus, a local Folsom band playing favorites from the 1990s rock era. With covers from Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, and other iconic alt-rock acts, the band delivers a nostalgic trip back to the grunge era with authentic sound and energy.

The party keeps rolling Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. with Stereotype, a high-energy dance band that lights up the stage with nonstop hits from the ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, and today. From Madonna to Bruno Mars, Stereotype keeps the vibe alive and the dance floor full.

Stereotype

Sunday at 3:00 p.m., the weekly Powerhouse of Blues series features a special appearance by blues guitar legend Chris Cain. Known for his soulful voice and jazz-infused blues guitar style, Cain brings decades of expertise and emotion to the stage. His most recent album, Good Intentions Gone Bad, showcases his sharp lyricism and masterful musicianship, earning praise from icons like B.B. King and Joe Bonamassa.

Cain’s performances blend heartfelt blues with jazz precision and have earned him critical acclaim throughout his career. Sunday’s set is expected to be a highlight for fans of authentic blues and live music excellence.
