The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is offering a fun, budget-friendly way to celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday—by letting dads in for free.

Fathers will receive complimentary admission on Sunday, June 15, when accompanied by at least one paid admission. The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with last entry at 2:30 p.m.

Located at 403 Stafford Street in downtown Folsom, the Sanctuary is home to about 100 rescued and rehabilitated animals, including bobcats, owls, bears, and sand cats. It offers an intimate, educational experience in a relaxed, park-like setting with shady walking paths and informative exhibits. The zoo does not breed animals or trade between facilities, reinforcing its focus on permanent rescue and care.

Advance tickets for non-fathers can be purchased online or at the gate. Admission is $7 for visitors ages 2 and up; children under 2 are free.

Conveniently situated next to Lions Park, the Folsom Public Library, and the Folsom Valley Railway, the Sanctuary makes for a full day of family fun, from zoo visits to picnicking and miniature train rides.

This Father’s Day visit also offers a chance to see some of the zoo’s newest residents. Herbie, a five-year-old North American black bear recently relocated from a closed wildlife facility, now calls Folsom home and has become a favorite among visitors. He’s joined by a female Eurasian brown bear, also transferred from the same facility. The community is currently being invited to help choose her name through a special fundraiser.
