RANCHO CORDOVA—The sounds of summer are set to return to Rancho Cordova as the city launches its 2025 Summer Concert Series this Friday, August 1. Hosted by the Cordova Community Council, the free Friday Night Concerts will once again take place at Village Green Park, offering residents and visitors five consecutive weeks of live music, food trucks, and family-friendly fun.

The weekly concerts begin at 7 p.m. with food trucks and vendors opening at 6:30 p.m. Each event runs until approximately 9 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic-friendly mindset as they settle in under the stars for an evening of entertainment.

This Friday’s series opener features American Mile, a Southern California-based band that has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting acts in the modern country-rock scene. Hailing from Los Angeles, the group blends the heart of Southern rock with the soulful storytelling of country music, creating an electrifying sound that’s as gritty as it is heartfelt.

Fronted by lead vocalist and guitarist Eugene Rice, American Mile includes Joe Perez on lead guitar, Dezmond Saunders on bass, and Colton Miller on drums—each of whom also contributes vocals, enabling the band to deliver soaring three-part harmonies that have become a signature of their live performances. The band first broke onto the scene in 2018 and has spent the years since sharpening their sound on the road, now playing close to 200 shows annually across North America.

American Mile

Their latest album, American Dream, marks a powerful evolution in their journey. A collection of nine dynamic tracks, the album blends the anthemic energy of classic rock with the raw emotion and grit of country songwriting. Influenced by icons like Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and Brothers Osborne, the band’s music serves as a rallying cry for those chasing their dreams and facing adversity head-on.

American Mile has captivated audiences at major festivals including Summerfest, the Country Summer Music Festival, Neon City Festival, and the Idaho Potato Drop, and they’ve performed at high-profile events like the NASCAR Auto Club 400. They’ve also shared stages with major artists such as 38 Special, Blue Öyster Cult, Nate Smith, Kameron Marlowe, and Neon Trees, and appeared at renowned venues like Moonshine Flats, Goldfield, and The Viper Room.

Building on the success of their 2020 debut The Longest Road, recorded with Grammy-nominated producers Bruce Witkin and Keith Nelson, American Dream reflects the resilience and passion that defines the group. Friday’s show is a rare chance for local audiences to catch this fast-rising band in an intimate park setting before their star rises even further.

Subsequent concerts in the series will feature White Water on August 8, Neon Playboys on August 15, Ariel Jean on August 22, and Rancho Cordova’s own R&B powerhouse Mercy Me closing out the series on August 29.

Each week’s event also includes a rotating lineup of food trucks and local vendors offering a wide array of cuisines and treats. From savory meals to sweet desserts, the culinary offerings are just as much a part of the experience as the music itself.

Located at 3141 Bridgeway Drive, Village Green Park provides a relaxed outdoor setting with ample space for guests to spread out and enjoy the show. The park is adjacent to Rancho Cordova City Hall and easily accessible from surrounding communities, including Folsom, Gold River, and Mather.

Now a long-running summer tradition, Rancho Cordova’s Friday Night Concerts have become a signature event for the region, showcasing a diverse range of musical acts while fostering a strong sense of community. The Cordova Community Council, in partnership with Visit Rancho Cordova, continues to grow the series each year with new bands, improved amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.

Concertgoers can find updated schedules and more information at www.cordovacouncil.org or www.visitranchocordova.com. Admission is free, parking is available nearby, and all shows are weather permitting.
