September 21 event officially opens the Folsom Concert Association’s new 2025-2026 season
FOLSOM — The Folsom Concert Association will open its 2025–2026 season with a performance by GQ: Gentlemen’s Quartet, bringing their unique blend of elegance, virtuosity, and humor to the Harris Center for the Arts on Sunday, September 21, at 2 p.m.
For more than three decades, the Folsom Concert Association (FCA) has made world-class music accessible to the community, presenting more than 140 concerts at some of the most affordable ticket prices in the region. This year’s season will feature five diverse performances spanning from September through May, continuing FCA’s long-standing tradition of cultural enrichment for Folsom and beyond.
The season debut by GQ promises to set the tone. Featuring Peter Sachon on cello and mandocello, Matt Scharfglass on guitars and bass, Ben Saporito on drums and percussion, and David Shenton on piano and violin, the quartet has collectively performed in more than 10,000 shows. Their résumés include Broadway, London’s West End, and collaborations with an extraordinary roster of artists such as Vanessa Williams, Audra McDonald, James Taylor, Pink Martini, Paul McCartney, The Manhattan Transfer, and Renee Fleming.
What sets GQ apart is its inventive approach to reimagining timeless works. Audiences can expect arrangements that layer and blend music across centuries and genres. Their version of John Legend’s “All of Me,” for instance, weaves together Chopin’s “Nocturne,” Elgar’s “Cello Concerto,” Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” and Michael Nyman’s “The Piano” into a seamless, thought-provoking performance. The result is music that is familiar yet strikingly fresh, demonstrating the limitless possibilities of creative interpretation.
Tickets for the season opener are already in high demand, and FCA encourages patrons to consider a season subscription, which offers all five concerts for the price of four. Subscription packages range from $125 to $200 depending on seating, making each concert as low as $25. Individual tickets for GQ are also available at full price.
Founded in 1994, FCA is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that relies on subscribers, donors, and sponsors to sustain its mission. Beyond its concert series, FCA invests in programs that bring musicians to senior living communities, provide scholarships for aspiring high school musicians, and refurbish donated instruments for schools in need.
With GQ taking the stage later this month, the Folsom Concert Association begins another year of delivering high-quality performances while giving back to the community.
