FOLSOM—El Dorado Musical Theatre is getting ready to fly into the hearts of audiences once again as its next production, Mary Poppins, prepares to open at Harris Center for the Arts in Folsom. Known for its professional‑quality youth theatre, EDMT will bring this timeless tale of magic, music and transformation to life with a cast of young performers ranging from age six through high school. El Dorado Musical Theatre

Mary Poppins follows the story of the Banks family at 17 Cherry Tree Lane, whose children Jane and Michael seem determined to chase away every nanny that comes through the door. That changes when the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins arrives—with an umbrella in hand and a no‑nonsense charm that upends their world in the best possible way. She not only wins over the children but helps their parents rediscover the heart of their home.

At the center of the story is Mary Poppins herself—practically perfect in every way—alongside Bert, the affable chimney sweep who becomes narrator and guide; George Banks, the strict banker struggling with identity and family; and Winifred Banks, his wife, reclaiming her voice amidst societal pressures. Among the production’s standout supporting characters are Mrs. Corry, the mystical gingerbread shop owner with an exotic accent, and Miss Andrew, the terrifying former nanny whose return sparks one of the show’s most intense musical moments. El Dorado Musical Theatre+1

The full ensemble features a rich tapestry of characters—including Katie Nanna, Admiral Boom, the Bird Woman, Robertson Ay, the Bank Chairman, and numerous park‑goers, toys and chimney sweeps—all portrayed by a rotating cast of youthful talent across multiple shows. El Dorado Musical Theatre

The musical numbers span from “Chim Chim Cher‑ee” and “Cherry Tree Lane” through “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Step in Time,” “Feed the Birds,” “Brimstone and Treacle,” and the uplifting finale “Anything Can Happen.” The vocal demands are broad—Mary Poppins herself covers from Gb3 up to C6, and Miss Andrew requires a soprano with an alto belt. El Dorado Musical Theatre
