It’s closing weekend the Anne Washburn’s dark, imaginative comedy to life through multi-space storytelling by Falcon’s Eye Theatre

Falcon’s Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College brings a strikingly original theatrical experience to Folsom this weekend as Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play takes over the Harris Center with a fully immersive, promenade-style production. Written by Anne Washburn, the dark comedy imagines how society rebuilds itself after a catastrophic grid collapse — and how the fragments of pop culture we carry with us may evolve into the mythology of a new world.

The story begins with a small group of survivors gathering around a fire, recalling details of a once-familiar TV episode. As decades pass, those memories shift, reshape, and ultimately transform into elaborate cultural narratives. The play’s three-act structure mirrors that evolution, with the talented cast leading audiences from realism to ritual, from memory to myth, through performances that change tone and texture with each era.

This production embraces the play’s inventive spirit by guiding audiences through several spaces in the Harris Center. The promenade format turns hallways, rooms, and performance areas into living parts of the narrative, making viewers participants in the unfolding post-electric landscape rather than spectators anchored to a single seat.

National critics have long praised the work’s originality. Time Out New York called it “hypnotic, sly and fiendishly insinuating.” The New York Times described it as “downright brilliant,” and the New York Post said the show is “even better than its hype.”

Audience members are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes early, as late seating is not permitted once each act begins. The performance runs approximately two hours and 30 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission between Acts II and III, and requires guests to travel with the cast as the story progresses.

Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play continues through Sunday, Nov. 23, with limited tickets available. Performances take place at the Harris Center at Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway, Folsom. Learn more at www.harriscenter.net.
