FOLSOM — A cherished holiday tradition has returned to Historic Folsom as Holiday in the Hills once again fills Sutter Street Theatre with festive music, laughter, and hometown spirit. The original production, created by theatre founders Mike Jimena and Connie Mockenhaupt, is now playing and runs December 6 through December 23, 2025. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 4:30 p.m., with additional weekday performances also scheduled during the run.

Directed by Mockenhaupt, Holiday in the Hills has long been a favorite for families and theatre-goers across the region. Set in the late 1800s right on Sutter Street, the show transports audiences back to the heart of Folsom’s early days, when townspeople gathered to celebrate Christmas with song, dance, and storytelling.

The production is a joyful blend of music and history, featuring characters inspired by real Folsom residents and visitors from the era. Through extensive research, the creative team has woven together a nostalgic and uplifting story that captures the warmth and wonder of the holidays as they might have been celebrated in the foothills generations ago.

Described as the theatre’s “love letter to the holiday season,” the show’s blend of carols, period costumes, and small-town camaraderie delivers a timeless message of togetherness and joy. Audiences are invited to share in the laughter, music, and magic that have made Holiday in the Hills a Sutter Street Theatre staple year after year.

The production is rated G, making it a fitting choice for audiences of all ages. With its cozy setting and authentic charm, it offers a festive, family-friendly way to soak in the spirit of Christmas in Historic Folsom.

Performances take place at Sutter Street Theatre, located at 717 Sutter Street in the heart of the historic district. Reservations are available online at www.SutterStreetTheatre.com or by calling (916) 353-1001.
