Intimate 1940s-inspired evening blends comedy, live music and champagne toast in Historic Folsom
Sutter Street Theatre will ring in the New Year with a throwback celebration that transforms the venue into a vintage nightclub for an evening of comedy, live music and classic entertainment as it presents At the Nightclub: New Year’s Eve Party on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
Inspired by the New York nightclub scene of the 1940s and 1950s, the special New Year’s Eve event offers an immersive, cabaret-style experience designed to transport guests into an earlier era of nightlife, complete with live musical entertainment, comedy and a festive countdown to the new year.
Doors open at 7 p.m. at Sutter Street Theatre, located at 717 Sutter St. in Historic Folsom. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, local desserts, party favors and a full program of entertainment that includes song, dance and comedy. A champagne or sparkling cider toast is scheduled for 10 p.m., followed by social time from 10 to 11 p.m. as attendees celebrate the arrival of 2026 together.
The event features live performances by Mike Jimena and Connie Mockenhaupt, bringing together nightclub-style comedy and music in an intimate setting that mirrors the atmosphere of classic mid-century lounges. The format is designed to be interactive and close-knit, with seating limited to just 40 guests for the entire evening.
According to Sutter Street Theatre, the celebration is intended as a full-night experience rather than a single performance, combining entertainment with social elements that allow guests to linger, mingle and mark the New Year in a relaxed yet festive environment. The limited seating and cabaret-style layout are intended to recreate the feel of classic urban nightclubs, where audiences were part of the show rather than simply spectators.
Tickets are $75, with service fees bringing the total to $78. Tickets are available through the Sutter Street Theatre box office at 916-353-1001 or online at www.sutterstreettheatre.com. The event is not recommended for children under 13.
Sutter Street Theatre, a cornerstone of Historic Folsom’s arts scene, regularly hosts plays, musicals and special events throughout the year. The New Year’s Eve celebration adds a seasonal highlight to the theatre’s calendar, offering a nostalgic alternative to traditional late-night parties while still delivering a midnight toast and festive atmosphere.
