Show lineup also features Nova Sutro and Trading Fours in a full night of regional talent
A night of heavy riffs, groove-driven rock and regional firepower is set to take over The Boardwalk this weekend as Moose Knuckle headlines a special EP release show with support from Nova Sutro and Trading Fours.
Set for this Saturday, Jan. 17, the performance marks the live debut of Moose Knuckle’s new Going Deep EP, giving fans the first opportunity to hear the band’s latest material performed live alongside crowd favorites. Known for their loud, fast and groove-heavy approach, the Sacramento-based band is planning a full-throttle set designed for an audience that appreciates straight-ahead hard rock delivered with intensity.
Moose Knuckle is made up of veteran musicians from Northern California’s rock and metal scene, featuring former members of Roswell, Adonis DNA, Shadowkiller and G9. Three of the band’s four members previously played in powerhouse outfit Roswell, bringing years of experience and chemistry to the current lineup. Over the years, the musicians behind Moose Knuckle have shared stages with notable acts including Y&T, Last in Line, Richie Kotzen and The Iron Maidens.
Their sound blends classic hard rock foundations with touches of metal and funk, built around groove-driven rhythms and strong hooks that translate seamlessly to the live stage. The new EP reflects that approach, capturing the energy and attitude that has helped the band build a reputation as a must-see local act.
Sharing the stage on Saturday night is Nova Sutro, a four-piece hard rock band from Auburn that has steadily gained momentum since forming in 2017. Drawing from the local Sacramento music scene, Nova Sutro has developed a high-energy live show fueled by heavy grooves, driving beats and catchy choruses. The band has earned multiple SAMMIE nominations from Sacramento News & Review and has surpassed 12,000 streams across Spotify and YouTube.
Nova Sutro has also opened for a wide range of nationally known artists, including Y&T, Dokken, Powerman 5000, Last in Line, Faster Pussycat, ADEMA, Michael Graves, Sebastian Bach, Stabbing Westward and others, making them a familiar and respected presence on Northern California rock stages.
Rounding out the bill is Trading Fours, a five-piece alternative rock band from Sacramento. Built around the blues-influenced vocals of lead singer Juan, Trading Fours delivers energetic and emotional performances, with each member bringing distinct musical influences that give the band’s sound a balance of classic feel and modern edge. The group continues to play regularly throughout the region while expanding its reach beyond Northern California.
The show takes place at The Boardwalk, located at 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale. Long regarded as one of the region’s most iconic live music venues, The Boardwalk is known for bringing both established and emerging acts into an intimate setting that places fans close to the stage and at the center of the live music experience.
The show begins at 8 p.m. and is all ages with a parent or guardian for attendees under 21. All ticket sales are final. Tickets and additional event details are available at www.rocktheboardwalk.com.
