Italian engineering, vintage style and community spirit filled the grounds of the Historic Murer House and Gardens as “Italy on Wheels” returned to Folsom for another lively celebration of Italian transportation and culture.
Enthusiasts from across California gathered May 16 to showcase an impressive collection of Italian cars, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. Guests wandered among gleaming chrome, polished paint and classic European craftsmanship while enjoying Italian sodas, beer, pizza, raffle baskets and shopping Murer House gifts. Tours of the historic Murer House museum and blooming spring gardens added to the festive atmosphere.
The event’s highlight came as judges announced the highly anticipated awards.

Best of Show went to Eric Van Nice of San Diego for his beautifully restored 1969 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe. The Fiat 124 Sport Coupé, a stylish two-door, four-seat notchback coupe, was produced by Fiat between 1967 and 1975 and remains a favorite among collectors for its sporty Italian design and performance.
Best of Class — Cars went to Jack Wright for his 1957 Ferrari. Best of Class — Bicycles was awarded to Rod Stone for his 1961 Legnano. Best of Class — Motorcycles went to Steven Ballinger for his 1972 Moto Guzzi. Best of Class — Scooters was awarded to Nicky Vaughan for his 1963 Lambretta. The People’s Choice Award went to Ted Trammbley for his 1968 Fausto Coppi.

With sunshine, spring blossoms and a shared love of Italian craftsmanship, Italy on Wheels once again proved to be one of Folsom’s most colorful and crowd-pleasing community events.
