Country soul and hook-filled pop rock power holiday weekend entertainment at Stage Bar and The Apex
Red Hawk Resort Casino is turning up the entertainment for Memorial Day weekend with two nights of free live music as Kirk Basquez and Los Vaqueros bring country energy to the Stage Bar on Friday before rising pop-rock artist Nick Eng makes his highly anticipated Red Hawk debut Saturday night.
Friday night at the Stage Bar features the soulful country sounds of Kirk Basquez and Los Vaqueros, performing from 8 p.m. until midnight. A born performer with deep musical roots, Basquez grew up in a large Northern California family of musicians and proudly says “country music is my jam,” a passion that started when he was just six years old after receiving his first guitar from his mother.
That early start led Basquez on a musical journey heavily influenced by some of country music’s most legendary artists, including Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and Jamey Johnson, while also drawing inspiration from modern voices such as Sturgill Simpson and John Mayer. The result is a style that blends traditional country soul with a modern edge that appeals to longtime country fans and newer audiences alike.

Known throughout the region for passionate live performances, particularly around the South Lake Tahoe area, Basquez has become a recognizable name on the Northern California country circuit and frequently collaborates with regional favorites including the Cripple Creek Band. Whether performing for a honky-tonk crowd or a packed casino dance floor, Basquez brings an authentic style and crowd-friendly energy that consistently connects with audiences.
Alongside Los Vaqueros, his Stage Bar performance promises a lively mix of country favorites, dance-floor energy and heartfelt musicianship that fits perfectly into the Memorial Day weekend atmosphere at Red Hawk.
Live entertainment begins even earlier Friday evening at The Apex at Red Hawk Resort Casino, where guests can also enjoy the property’s all-ages entertainment offerings including electric go-kart racing, bowling, arcade attractions, sports simulators and dining at the Apex Grill throughout the holiday weekend.
Saturday night shifts the spotlight back to the Stage Bar as Nick Eng takes over from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. for his first-ever performance at Red Hawk Resort Casino.
Known for his jangly, hook-filled pop-rock style and polished stage presence, Eng has steadily built a growing following across the West Coast and beyond through a combination of heartfelt songwriting, energetic live performances and relentless touring.
Hailing from Reno, Nevada — often called the “Biggest Little City” — Eng blends the melodic warmth of vintage pop music with sharp lyrical storytelling and modern indie-rock energy. His music draws influences that resonate with both classic rock audiences and younger indie-pop listeners, giving his performances broad crossover appeal.
Whether fronting a full band or performing solo, Eng brings a musical style that balances catchy melodies, emotional honesty and crowd-engaging charisma. His ability to move between polished pop hooks and emotionally driven songwriting has become one of the defining characteristics of his growing catalog.
Eng’s musical journey began in childhood through theater productions, school choirs and talent competitions before eventually launching into the indie music scene in 2015. Since then, he has performed hundreds of live shows at festivals, clubs, bars and casinos throughout the region, refining a performance style built around energy, personality and strong audience connection.

His two studio albums, Nick Eng released in 2018 and Long Shot released in 2019, have helped establish his growing reputation internationally. His music has generated more than 50,000 streams worldwide while reaching listeners in countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Australia and Japan. His songs have also earned recognition on indie radio stations and through songwriter awards, with critics often highlighting his lyrical honesty and memorable songwriting style.
Saturday’s Red Hawk debut brings that growing momentum to the Stage Bar for a late-night performance expected to blend indie-pop charm with rock-driven energy throughout the evening.
All Stage Bar performances at Red Hawk Resort Casino are free with no cover charge, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
